Views of the future

A warm welcome to all our new members and those who joined us at our first ever Auckland Young Energy Professionals events in February and March.

The Network aims to be inclusive and informal, and share information of interest to you. If you'd like to get involved, we're looking for people to be a part of our leadership group. Contact us at yepn@bec.org.nz to find out how.

This month's newsletter is dedicated to the future of the energy sector; views from our members, from NZ's energy execs as well as Siemens and Vivid Economics.
Thanks to Graham Petrie for presenting an insight into Seimens' current work and preparations for the future. A shout out to Chloe Sparks, Emily Calvert and Nicolas Vessiot who did a fantastic job presenting YEPN's view on future challenges and opportunities at Downstream
The 2017 Energy Issues Monitor surveys over 1,200 CEOs, ministers and experts worldwide to find out what keeps them awake at night. The report highlights critical uncertainties and action priorities for New Zealand and the world, and tracks how these change over time.
For another view of the future, the cross party parliamentary group GLOBE NZ have commissioned a report from Vivid Economics. Net Zero in New Zealand uses scenario analysis to look at long-term pathways to achieve a low-emissions economy in New Zealand.

And lastly, a big thumbs up to our newest Future Energy Leader Representatives, Bennet Tucker and Daniel Gnoth. The FEL-100 programme aims to shape and inspire the energy leaders of tomorrow. The group works towards solving the world's most pressing energy challenges.
