The opportunity to be part of a global network

As we are winding down (or gearing up) for Christmas, the World Energy Council (WEC) has reached out to us to nominate exceptional individuals to join the Future Energy Leaders 100 cohort (FEL, or FEL100 for short). New Zealand is currently represented by 3 members: Z Energy's Tina Frew, Transpower's Bennet Tucker, and Powerco's Daniel Gnoth. They took part in the last WEC's summit in Lisbon, and reported back about what they learnt to YEPN and BEC members last week. See below for more information about the FEL application process and more information about their presentation.

2017 has been exceptional for YEPN with the development of our three-year strategy and the opportunity to address the Industry at the Downstream conference. 2018 is going to be another exciting year. We have been invited to share our vision of the future at the conference once again, discussing how human capital is going to be key to meet the Industry's challenges.

Our aim is to reach and connect professionals across the Industry. Feel free to forward this newsletter to your colleagues and encourage them to subscribe to our mailing list. As always, we are keen to hear your comments, ideas and perspective, so if you've got something to share, get in touch with us at yepn@bec.org.nz.

We wish you all a merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in the new year.

Coming up: Downstream
Downstream, the Industry's annual strategic forum will take place in March 2018 in Auckland. With local and international speakers from across the energy sector, this is a great opportunity to learn about the new trends, technologies and products. It is also a great occasion to meet with decision-makers and other peers.

The team at Freeman media is generously offering a discount to YEPN members from the supply-side of the Industry. Click here to access the promotional code and special terms and conditions, and visit www.nzdownstream.co.nz to access the programme and registration page.
Start up Energy Transition (SET): a new platform to celebrate and promote innovation
Supported by WEC and the German Energy Agency, SET aims at connecting start-ups, international venture capitalists & investors, and partners in the public sector. Click here to learn more about it.
Can't unplug over the summer break (pun intended)?
We're always keen to hear from our members about what they are up to and share it with the rest of the network. So if you're going on a roadie with an electric car, visiting an hydro plant, or doing the maths to install PV on your folks' homes, we want to hear from you! After all, we are all Energy geeks around here. So drop us a line at yepn@bec.org.nz and we'll feature your story in the next newsletter.
