A Flexible Energy Strategy: Using TIMES-NZ
A Flexible Energy Strategy: Using TIMES-NZ
Join us for an online session with Dr Stephen Batstone, Director at Whiteboard and Wayne Manor Advisory, and Toby Stevenson, Director Sapere on how energy modelling can inform New Zealand’s Energy Strategy.
This session is designed to shed light on why a strategic approach to emissions reduction needs to embrace the real risk of the future turning out differently from that anticipated.Â
In an environment where there are so many uncertainties (e.g. fast moving technologies, the impact of climate policies and the potential for big binary events) forecasts have some limitations. Decision-makers and policy-makers have to commit in the face of uncertainty, respond to major events the best way they can, and live with their decisions after the fact.
Energy system thinking and scenario analysis are critical tools for navigating the complex and rapidly changing energy landscape. Scenarios can help us identify potential challenges and opportunities, enabling policymakers, business leaders, and other stakeholders to make informed decisions about energy investment, regulations, and policies.
In this webinar, we are excited to share with you our key findings, conducting seven sensitivity analysis in TIMES-NZ – New Zealand’s Energy System Model.
