The New Zealand Energy Research Institute (NERI) has now formally wound-up operations.
In a move to continue and strengthen the mission of connecting energy research with government and business, the BusinessNZ Energy Council (BEC) has welcomed NERI members to join its community.
Introducing the BEC Research Group
To carry forward NERI’s legacy, BEC is establishing a Special Interest Group (SIG) focused on energy research and education.
This group will:
- Strengthen ties between researchers, educators, government, and business.
- Promote high-quality investment in energy research and education.
- Support innovation and evidence-based policy in New Zealand’s energy sector.
Who can join?
- All former NERI members are invited to join the SIG and will become BEC members.
- Any BEC member with an interest in energy research and education is welcome to participate.
How it works
- The SIG will appoint a spokesperson or chair from among its members.
- While the Group will manage its own affairs. It is proposed for the group to meet a minimum of 3-times a year to discuss priorities for energy research and education, developments in the RS&I system relevant to the energy sector, and how collectively to respond to this.
